Changes inside a house can affect several floors, the entrance or the relationship with outdoor areas. Planning a renovation starts with those connections, separating everyday needs, maintenance concerns and preferences for the finished space.
Obra Lisboa renovates existing houses in Greater Lisbon. The starting point is the home you have: what works, what you value and which changes matter most. The intervention may focus on selected areas or involve a broader reorganisation, depending on the property and the agreed brief.
Gather any existing plans, interior and exterior photographs and a list of areas to be considered. Note signs of damp, awkward circulation and intended changes of use. These details help connect decisions about finishes with services, openings and other parts of the house.
Separate interior works from any exterior interventions that may be needed. Roofing, facades and structural work should not be assumed to be included in every renovation. The proposal needs to identify the selected tasks, their dependencies and the decisions requiring architectural or engineering input.
Can a house renovation be divided into phases?
This can be considered against the connections between tasks, access and the conditions for using the house. A room-by-room sequence may differ from the technical sequence needed for services and finishes, so staging requires discussion.
Can existing features be retained?
Yes, retaining features can form part of the brief. Identify doors, floors, stairs or other elements you value. Their condition and compatibility with the proposed work need to be considered before deciding how they can be incorporated.
